TAP DC Hikes Shenandoah National Park

We're going for a hike in Shenandoah National Park, just in time to take in beautiful views of the fall foliage!

We will be doing the Hawksbill Trail Circuit. The first half of this circuit is a forest walk that passes 2 feeder streams for Rose River, and the second is vista after vista from both the Appalachian Trail and Hawksbill Summit. The views from Franklin Cliffs look out on the Massanutten range to the west, and there is a spectacular 270 degree panorama from the Hawksbill Summit with a view of Old Rag (from Hiking Upward).

Interested in what goes on at the U.S. Department of Justice? Take a tour of the Robert F. Kennedy Main Justice building, dubbed "Main," and learn about the history of the DOJ as well as see the artwork displayed in the public portions of the building. The tour usually lasts between 45 minutes to 1 hour. You are welcome to take pictures of the artwork; however, you may not take pictures of the building entrances and exits. The tour will be capped at the first 14 confirmed attendees. Please only email Daphne if you can confirm your attendance.

When: Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at noon
Where: 950 Pennsylvania Ave NW (day-of meeting point at the visitor center will be emailed out to confirmed attendees)

TAP DC Old Rag 2017 Adventure Hike

Let's take a hike to the summit of old rag mountain in Shenandoah Valley National Park!

This will be a 9 mile hiking loop taking approx. 5-6 hours. There are some sweet rock scrambles there and pretty pretty scenery. We might observe some wildlife wandering around. How fun is that?! PLEASE keep in mind that this is categorized as difficulty "Hard".

Note: There is little or no cell phone signal at/near Old Rag.

Join Taiwanese American Professionals - Washington, D.C. Area (TAP - DC) and NAAAP DC as we celebrate Asian American Heritage Month through listening to shared stories by members of the DMV’s greater AAPI community centered on the theme of [Identity]. This is a night of intimate storytelling, a way to open and engage in true and meaningful dialogue. Through taking an introspective look into our collective stories, we aim to challenge stereotypes, push against social boundaries, and grow as a community.

Join us on Sunday, May 21st at Busboys and Poets – Takoma Park from 5:00-7:00PM. This event is FREE but registration is required via Eventbrite. Doors open at 5 sharp, so please be sure to arrive on time as a respect towards our volunteer storytellers. Plus, you want to grab the best seat in the house, don’t you?!

TAP Explores the Great Outdoors

Spring is almost here! Lace up your hiking boots and join TAP-DC for a hike at Sugarloaf Mountain on April 30th at 9:30am. The hike should take around ~3 hours.

We will be meeting at the West View Parking Lot and doing the blue loop, which is an intermediate hike.

For those of you that want to get even more in touch with nature, TAP-DC will be camping the night before, April 29th, at Little Bennett Regional Park.

They allow a max of 6 people/2 tents/2 cars per site so once we get a more accurate headcount. we will reach out with further logistical details!

Hiking and camping not your thing--but you still wanna enjoy the wonderful weather? We'll be doing a post-hike picnic on the 23rd at Sugarloaf Winery! Because this will be immediately following the hike, the hiking group will be at the winery at approximately 1pm. The winery offers tastings for $10 per person and is Bring Your Own Food, so bring a picnic blanket and some snacks. Bring your friends too cuz they surely will loaf Sugarloaf Mountain Winery!
