TAP DC Old Rag 2017 Adventure Hike

Saturday June 10, 8:30 AM-3 PM • Old Rag Mountain

Let's take a hike to the summit of old rag mountain in Shenandoah Valley National Park!

This will be a 9 mile hiking loop taking approx. 5-6 hours. There are some sweet rock scrambles there and pretty pretty scenery. We might observe some wildlife wandering around. How fun is that?! PLEASE keep in mind that this is categorized as difficulty "Hard".

Old Rag parking lot at 8:30AM. Hike starts at 9:00AM
Coordinates: 38Β°34'13"N 78Β°17'12"W

Note: There is little or no cell phone signal at/near Old Rag.

On the way to and back from Old Rag Mountain, stop by the Wegman in Gainesville to pick up food/drInks.

Also, don't speed (too much) on the highways. Expect speed radars policing to/from Old Rag. You're welcome.

$25 per car or use your annual shenandoah pass

Wear athletic wear and tennis/hiking shoes

Bring at at least 2 quarts of water (equivalent to 4 bottled waters)

Celebrate Apahm: A Night of Storytelling

Join Taiwanese American Professionals - Washington, D.C. Area (TAP - DC) and NAAAP DC as we celebrate Asian American Heritage Month through listening to shared stories by members of the DMV’s greater AAPI community centered on the theme of [Identity]. This is a night of intimate storytelling, a way to open and engage in true and meaningful dialogue. Through taking an introspective look into our collective stories, we aim to challenge stereotypes, push against social boundaries, and grow as a community.

Join us on Sunday, May 21st at Busboys and Poets – Takoma Park from 5:00-7:00PM. This event is FREE but registration is required via Eventbrite. Doors open at 5 sharp, so please be sure to arrive on time as a respect towards our volunteer storytellers. Plus, you want to grab the best seat in the house, don’t you?!

TAP Explores the Great Outdoors

Spring is almost here! Lace up your hiking boots and join TAP-DC for a hike at Sugarloaf Mountain on April 30th at 9:30am. The hike should take around ~3 hours.

We will be meeting at the West View Parking Lot and doing the blue loop, which is an intermediate hike.

For those of you that want to get even more in touch with nature, TAP-DC will be camping the night before, April 29th, at Little Bennett Regional Park.

They allow a max of 6 people/2 tents/2 cars per site so once we get a more accurate headcount. we will reach out with further logistical details!

Hiking and camping not your thing--but you still wanna enjoy the wonderful weather? We'll be doing a post-hike picnic on the 23rd at Sugarloaf Winery! Because this will be immediately following the hike, the hiking group will be at the winery at approximately 1pm. The winery offers tastings for $10 per person and is Bring Your Own Food, so bring a picnic blanket and some snacks. Bring your friends too cuz they surely will loaf Sugarloaf Mountain Winery!
